Tommyknocker Butt Head Bock

Tommyknocker Butt Head BockThis award winning doppelbock (8.2% alcohol by volume) lager is brewed with a generous supply of Munich, carapils, caramel and chocolate malts and is fermented with Bavarian lager yeast. The resulting caramel sweetness and rich mouthfeel are complimented by the mild bittering of German Hallertau hops.

Two Brothers Domaine DuPage

Two Brothers Domaine DuPageA nice beer from my friends at two brothers brewery. A great food beer; will go good with just about anything but ice cream. Well balanced and enough sweetness with some fruity characters to cleanses the palate. 2 bros just opened up a new tap house in Warrenville, IL. We took a tour there before it was done and are planning to go back. They make great beer and everything they make is worth trying.

Chimay Grand Reserve (Blue Label)

Chimay Grand Reserve Blue LabelThe monks know how to make great beer.  Since 1862 the Trappist Monks have been making Chimay.  It is always brewed on the site at the abbey where the monks make sure everything is correct.  The brewery operates from 7a.m. to 4p.m. each day out of respect for the monastic life; they produce two batches each day.  Grande reserve is the best of the bunch.  It is the strongest and darkest of the three (not as dark as a stout or porter).  It has a great smell once it hits your nose.  Highly recommended.

William Penn Lager

William Penn LagerA new beer to us from La Crosse Brewery up north.  Rich in amber color and different from a lot of other lagers I have tasted.  More fruit flavor and not a lot of skunk.  I was a bit surprised by the taste.  I’m not a huge lager person but I will go back to this one.  They are trying some new things at La Crosse Brewery and coming out with some pretty decent beers.

Franziskaner Hefeweizen

Franziskaner HefeweizenA nice summertime beer.  This unfiltered hefe from Germany is a great backyard barbeque beer.  Brewed in full accordance with the Bavarian “Puritry Law” of 1516.  Short version of the law sates that beer may contain only three ingredients: barley, hops, and water.  Smells just like it taste.  With just enough banana and orange taste, it will help take the heat away.  Pour into a nice tall glass to get the full effects.  Made by Spaten Brewery.
