Ale Smith IPA 22oz. (to be delivered on Friday August 9th 2013)

RateBeer: 100

AleSmith IPA used to be known as "Irie Pirate Ale." However, some nasty patent attorneys think the name is too similar to another brand, so we had to "cease and desist." It's a darn shame, but it beats an obnoxious legal battle, in both expenses and Excedrin. Don't worry though, we won't change the beer (which is a MUCH better IPA than that "other" brand). It was conceived as an American-style IPA to satisfy the yearnings of the most die-hard hopheads. Its high alcohol content may catch you unawares if you're not careful, but it's hard to resist once you've tasted it. Appearance: Deep golden to light amber color, and a nice beige head, with good retention when properly served. Flavor: Starts off with strong citrusy, resiny flavors, balanced by a nice malty sweetness, then fades to a dry finish with a lingering hoppiness and a faint hint of plums and black cherries. Aroma: Strong piney-citrusy character, with vanilla in the background. Mouthfeel (body/texture): Smooth, medium-bodied. Feels warm in the mouth from the alcohol.

Big Wood Bad Axe Imperial IPA 4pk can (to be delivered on Friday August 9th 2013)

Our Bark Bite IPA on Steroids! Plain and simple. This one might take a few trees down without trying. It’s the one all the lady axes think they can change. He might be a tough guy in the flannel shirt who tears of bottle caps with his teeth, but don’t worry he’s easy to get along with. Brewed with a mix of Columbus and Centennial hops, it pours pale amber and goes down surprisingly easy. Well, maybe not so surprising, considering it’s from Big Wood Brewery.

Clown Shoes Clementine 4pk

RateBeer: 95

Clementine is Clown Shoes Beer’s Belgian style White Ale. Light-bodied and crisp, this is a terrific White Ale with plenty of zest! Hazy in appearance and healthily carbonated, it utilizes Chambly yeast to energetically shape its wheat malt base. Incorporated in the brewing process is Clementine, sweet orange peel, a hint of coriander, and Summit hops.

At a sly, easy-drinking 5.9%, Clementine is dynamic and flavorful enough to satisfy discerning craft beer palates, yet light enough to count among “sessionable” beers.

Poured high into a pint or traditional pilsner style glass, drinkers can sip away lazy summer afternoons. As for food pairings, it is the perfect compliment to a range of salads and seafoods or light cheeses such as Feta, Monterey, and Gruyere.

Hanssens Oude Kriek 12.7oz.

RateBeer: 98

This is the result of blending black cherries lambic of different ages followed by a second fermentation in the bottle. Storage is similar like geuze. All bottles are champagne corked and can be reserved, in normal conditions, for more than thirty years. It is obvious that an amazing taste evolution takes place.

Innis & Gunn Canadian Cherrywood Oaked 22oz.

RateBeer: 97

This limited bottling of Innis and Gunn has been matured over Canadian Black Cherrywood and then finished with the addition of maple syrup. To our knowledge, this is the first time that Cherrywood has been used to mature a beer. The result is a really full bodied Scottish ale, with a rich tasting finish.
Brewed using three malt varieties, roasted barley, wheat and Super Styrian and Goldings hops, Canadian Cherrywood Aged is matured for 49 days over lightly-toasted black cherrywood chips. Maple syrup is added post maturation when the beer is in cold conditioning to add a subtly sweet, toasty twist.
In another nod to its Canadian fanbase, Innis & Gunn has featured artwork by Canadian artist Tatiana O’Donnell on the carton. Her painting ‘Forest Spectrum’ won Innis & Gunn’s annual art competition: a collaboration with the Society of Canadian Artists.

Sam Adams Oktoberfest 6pk

RateBeer: 94

The first thing you notice when pouring a glass of this seasonal beer is the color. Samuel Adams® Octoberfest has a rich, deep golden amber hue which itself is reflective of the season. Samuel Adams® Octoberfest is a malt lover’s dream, masterfully blending together four roasts of barley to create a delicious harmony of sweet flavors including caramel and toffee. The beer is kept from being overly sweet by the elegant bitterness imparted by the German Noble hops. Samuel Adams® Octoberfest provides a wonderful transition from the lighter beers of summer to the winter’s heartier brews.

Southern Tier Pumking 22oz.

RateBeer: 100

Pumking is an ode to Púca, a creature of Celtic folklore, who is both feared and respected by those who believe in it. Púca is said to waylay travelers throughout the night, tossing them on its back, and providing them the ride of their lives, from which they return forever changed. Brewed in the spirit of All Hallows Eve, a time of the year when spirits can make contact with the physical world and when magic is most potent. Shipyard Smashed Pumkin 22oz.

RateBeer: 95

Smashed Pumpkin is a big-bodied beer with a light coppery orange color and pleasing aroma of pumpkin and nutmeg. The OG and final Alc./Vol. provide the structure and body. Pale Ale, Wheat and Light Munich Malts combine with the natural tannin in pumpkin and the delicate spiciness of Willamette and Hallertau Hops to balance the sweetness of the fruit. To fully enjoy all the flavors, this ale is best drunk at 55 degrees Fahrenheit. Smashed Pumpkin pairs well with sharp cheeses, nuts, lamb, hearty stews and desserts like flan or pumpkin pie. Chefs find this an excellent beer to cook with in dishes such as braised short ribs.

Weyerbacher Last Chance IPA 6pk

Weyerbacher’s new Last Chance IPA is a west coast style full-flavored hop assault delightfully lacking in balance. We’ve added a combination of Centennial, Cascade, Simcoe, and Columbus hops which are used to produce pungent aromas of grapefruit, pine, and citrus. Last Chance IPA weighs in at 5.9% ABV and 62 IBUs. Now…for the name. Why “Last Chance?” The name “Last Chance” is a nod to something held very close to the hearts of many of the employees of Weyerbacher Brewing Company. Animal Rescue. Weyerbacher donates a portion of the proceeds from the sale of every drop of Last Chance IPA to small regional animal rescue operations. These shelters offer dogs, cats, and other pets their last chance to find a new home. Have a glass. Make a difference! Cheers!
